Flight to Fort Dauphin

Flying to Fort Dauphin was good, Tana is nice but I was glad to get out of there. I don’t think they have a lot of security measures in Madagascar as they didn’t check the luggage well and they really didn’t care what we were carrying with us. Just thinking about the… liquids up to 100 mL… carried in a plastic bag? Well kind of… I had my 1.5 L of coke in a see through plastic bottle ^^. Of course you walk to the plane like usual on these type of airport and with that get a good look at the plane. It looked really good from the outside… the inside isn’t just that great. The seats seem a little loose and all table are hanging in crooked angles, but I didn’t expect anything else. The only thing that scared me a little was the door of the plane. The flight attentands tried to shut and kept trying to slam it shut but it wouldn’t work. I didn’t find it a very relaxing thought that the door may not be safely shut, but ok I had no choice. Planes in Madagascar are simply like Taxi-Brousses. What we didn’t know as it iddn’T sday it on the travel information is that the polane doesn’t go straight to Fort Dauphin but first goes to Tulear. There some people are getting off, some on and some just go in front of the door to have a smoke. I don’t know if the smoking right next to the plane is really the best idea, but I guess it’s fine as long as nothing happens ^^. I think the reason for that the plane is more like a bus is that it really is the only way to get to Fort Dauphin as the streets are either too bad or non existant. It’s a weird flight, but quite adventurous! Getting out of the plane was wonderful.. hot & sunny. Perfect! The luggage claim is interesting too. It is a wooden counter where they put all the luggage and then shout out the numbers, not a good point to loose the luggage papers LOL. All luggage was there and we got it quickly. Unfortunately the car that was supposed to pick us up wasn’t there. It arrived soon after, but didn’t have enough space for us and al the luggage so that we had to wait for a while. It didn’t worry me at all as the sun was shining, it was hot and I was happy!
