Where to stay in Fort Dauphin

The first time we stayed in Fort Dauphin we stayed at the Soavy Hotel. I suggest no one to ever go there again as the rooms cost too much and don’t keep the promises made. They said we will have water at all times and even warm water. I don’t need warm water, but if I am promised water and have to pay so much money I either expect it to be there or a reduction in price. Instead they put up the price… well they said they had always said the higher price but that is bullshit. Aaaanyway unless you want to pay a lot of money for a room where the bathroom window (which can’t be closed) is right above a public toilet and you have no water (and with that obviously no working toilet) then go there, but I would suggest to choose a different one. I would also like to exclude the Blue Moon from the possibilities… unless you like having a dead rat right in front of your bungalow and someone elses undies hanging in the roof. Personally I don’t find it too charming so I’d pass on that one. We all agreed and from then on chose Gina Motel. There may be better ones around, but this one is fairly cheap, especially if you share rooms. Best price if you share a four-bed room. Of course you get what you get with all normal hotels around there… little crawly critters are inlcuded in the price ^^. This means that on the one hand you are so glad to have a bed for a change, but on the other hand you don’t really want to touch it. Just looking at the bed you have lots of dirt on it where you don’t know what it is… you get used to things like that, sweep it off the blanket and when you return to bed the dirt is back… go figure. When you sleep on those beds you do know you shared your beds with lots of little friends as you have bites all over you in the morning. Sometimes they are very stylish and bite in perfect circles on your leg… preferably on the inside to make sure it will drive you nuts all day long, because of your shorts rubbing on the bites all along. I also doubt that the mozzie nets have any good effect, as looking at the mozzies… then looking at he holes of the net it seems a little unrealistic that they are not supposed to get through there. I suggest bringing your own mozzie net… not all hotel have nets anyway. A cute little big cockroach is visiting you from time to time as well, so be critterfriendly. Power generally is pretty good in Fort Dauphin it only went off once… while I was sitting in the middle of my stuff while packing and my friend the cockroach ran over my legs. The roof of the bungalow is pretty noisy all the time… sounds like an old squeaky waggon wheel turning… joined by the constant flapping of a metal sheet against the roof, which you can also watch through the hole in the roof. You also have water at any time of the day… sometimes just dribbling and often not warm, but there is always water. It even looks quite nice, which tends to help you forget that the bed is pretty smelly and that you are sure that they have definetly never changed the sheets ever since you left the hotel a couple of weeks ago, we guess they just straighten them again. So all in all it is quite a good place to stay for the price.

How on earth did you remember all the things that happened to you? Did you keep a diary?
