Food & Beer ... the essentials of life ;)

Foodwise I suggest the Tournesol. Personally I like the Steak aux Poivre vert (Zebu Steak with pepper sauce) and chips the best. It is very well done and the sauce is beautiful! All the other food looked great too and according to the others it tasted great as well. Great about that restaurant is that they actually have everything avaiable they offer on the menu. Another perfect place is Louis XIV … the owner is great and always in for a good talk. He even has a Happy Hour for THB (Three Horses Beer). He also has a few meals on offer, which are not all available every day, but if he has them they are beautiful!!! For lunch I would suggest Oasis or Chez Pe… (sorry I don’t know the name anymore, but if needed I can describe where it is). Cheap places with good food. And always remember that you have to choose about five different meals, because most of them won’t be available. Another thing you get used to very quickly. You name a dish you’d like, the waitress looks into the kitchen, asks if they got it and in most cases shakes her head afterwards. This procedure can take about half an hour (that is just for one of the meals, so it takes a while till you actually get an ok for the meal you chose). You can ask for the same meal every day and every day she will ask in the kitchen again… and it is always the same answer. We were SHOCKED when she actually nodded once when we asked for pizza. We actually asked just jokingly, because they NEVER have pizza. So it sure is worth asking for… just be patient, it may take a few weeks, but some day you will actually get what you want. Throughout the day you can get bananas, different fruits and of course sambossas everywhere along the street. They are quite nice. Everything is a little dirty, but you get used to the crunchy feel of sand in your food quickly. Best time for sambossas and fried bananas is in the early morning when they are freshly made. That way you avoid having to eat the ones that are in display cases at the side of the street. They are very dirty and standing in the sun, which makes the food not soooo yummy. But in any way if you just spend enough time there you don’t mind anything really. Just go it slow so that you don’t ruin your stomach.
